Today, Monday, February 3, is the Senate deadline to submit bills. The House deadline is Friday, February 7. Several more priority bills were introduced last week. Any bills introduced after these dates will be referred to the chambers’ respective Rules Committees and require a vote of those bodies before referral to a standing committee. Late bills are less likely to get a hearing during the session since a third of the session will have passed by Friday.

As of last Friday, we have the following priority bills under each Issue Area:

•   Climate Change: 6 measures introduced (11 bills, counting those cross-filed in each chamber)

•   Criminal Justice: 6 measures (10 bills)

•   Gun Violence: 1 measure (1 bill)

•   Health Care: 2 measures (3 bills)

•   Immigration: 3 measures (4 bills)

•   Medical Aid in Dying: no bills filed

For the details, the links above provide access to the 2025 Session page under each issue on our website.

Now, our efforts are turning to providing compelling testimony and contacting lawmakers on the respective committees to vote on priority bills. For details on which bills will be heard this week, please visit our Look Ahead page on our website.

The hearing schedule is constantly changing, so please check our Upcoming Hearings table which we update at least daily. The table only shows the scheduled our priority bills. At this point, eight (8) priority bills have been heard in committee, thirteen (13) more of our priority bills are already scheduled in addition to those coming up this week, and ten (10) more are yet to be scheduled. We are still awaiting the introduction of six (6) more priority measures.

Anyone interested in providing testimony can do so in writing and/or verbally in person or remotely, as long as they are signed up in advance. Contact our Coordinator, Ashley Egan, at info@uulmmd.org if you want her to assist you in making your voice heard.
